A Head Full of Curls

“A Head Full of Curls” is the cover illustration for the book Delirio by Raffaella Case. I imagined the protagonist as a woman’s head crowned with an afro hairstyle that echoes the shape of majestic baobab trees. From her hair, the baobabs themselves emerge and grow, transforming her thoughts into a living landscape. The image symbolizes the richness and complexity of the mind, where memories, emotions, dreams, and inner voices intertwine and take root. Like the branches of ancient trees, thoughts expand in unexpected directions, creating a visual metaphor for imagination, identity, and the fertile, sometimes chaotic, nature of human consciousness.
